Effective Treatment Solutions for Skin Hyperpigmentation

Skin hyperpigmentation is usually caused by an inflammation or injury, which might be a cut to the face or a burn, or even tissue that is damaged by squeezing a pimple too hard. Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation is typically found in women with darker skin, as they tend to produce more melanin that a fair skinned person, and often, the skin injury results in melanin overproduction and this results in a patch of darker skin. If this affects the surface skin layers than it is much easier to treat, yet if the condition is found in the deeper layers of the epidermis, a different treatment would be recommended.

  • Chemical Peels – This treatment can be very effective, as it exfoliates the top layers of skin, which in turn, creates a lighter shade of skin. Some people suffer side effects, which might include severe skin redness, blistering, or skin discolouration, therefore it is best to consult a skin care expert, as there are several types of hyperpigmentation, and only a specialist would know the best form of treatment.
  • Topical Treatments – There are over the counter products you can buy, although these are known to be ineffective with anything other than a mild case. Vitamin C cream does have a positive effect on the skin discolouration, but to be sure, you should consult a skin care expert before embarking on any treatment program. Some people do suffer a bad reaction when exposed to some creams, and in that case, the skin damage could be substantial, so it makes sense to seek out an expert opinion first.
  • Facial Treatments – Some facial peels can help to lighten the affected area, although for every facial that does work, there is a hundred that do not. If the product comes recommended from a skin care consultant, then the chances of success a high, and providing you follow the application process to the letter, a series of application would show an improvement.
  • Microdermabrasion – This treatment is similar to a chemical peel, in as much as it helps the top layer of skin to exfoliate, and rather than using a chemical, fine crystals are used to remove the dead skin cells, which are then removed by suction. This is a gentle, non-invasive treatment, and if applied by a professional, it can produce satisfactory results. Again, there is always the risk of side effects, and only by having a skin care expert take a look, can you be absolutely sure it is the right treatment for you.
  • Tried and Tested Products – The Japanese have always had a liking for pale skin, and consequently, some Japanese companies have created skin care products that do produce results. These products are available online, although one should do some research as to the possible side effects of the treatment, and if a product can really achieve the manufacturer’s claims, then it would be well-known and there would be evidence to support the claims.

Skin hyperpigmentation doesn’t have to be an issue today, and with online skin care professionals, you can soon have an expert opinion as to the best treatment.
